Application for Scholarship 2012

Volunteer Oppurtunity

posted May 16, 2012 8:12 AM by David Hotler

Hello Hampton City School staff! I hope this e-mail finds you doing well as we have entered the month of May. I am sending you this e-mail with some amazing information regarding a volunteer opportunity for yourself, your family, your students and their families, and also your parent involvement groups.

On June 9th the third annual Old Point Tidewater Triathlon will be held at Buckroe Beach, I can tell you from personal experience that this is one of the premier events in Hampton! The two years previous to this one I was an employee with the Hampton Family YMCA and helped with the volunteer organization for this event. I am continuing in this role as a volunteer myself for the Hampton Family YMCA and for the Old Point Tidewater Triathlon.

I am looking to recruit volunteers for this event and am asking for your help in doing this. This event benefits the Hampton Family YMCA’s Strong Communities Campaign which allows families and children to utilize everything the YMCA has to offer and more. I was a part of this organization as an employee for 13 years and now am a volunteer for them. The Hampton Family YMCA does so much for our community that they deserve to be benefited from them.

Over the last two years the Old Point Tidewater Triathlon has been known for its volunteers as the athletes have stated how supportive and organized they have all been. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to experience this for yourself. There are several ways for you to sign up to volunteer for this as outlined below:

1.     You can fill out the attachment and send it back to myself to either this e-mail address or my personal e-mail address; eshecker@gmail.com.

You can register using the link that has been provided for you here: https://ops1.operations.daxko.com/Online/3029/Programs/search.mvc/programs?keyword=volunteer

You can also stop into the Hampton Family YMCA and sign up at their Welcome Center.

All of the positions are listed in the attachment for you to choose for that Saturday morning; please let me know which position you would like so I can place you there. Friday June 8th will be volunteer registration where you will receive your t-shirt that is yours to keep, if you are not able to make Friday that is alright. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at anytime and I will be able to answer any questions that you may have. Take care and have a great day!

If you know of any athletic female high school seniors interested in playing a college sport and need financial aid, please encourage them to apply for The Linda Riddle/SGMA Endowed Scholarship.
